Skymachine is a dynamic and innovative studio specializing in art, design, film, and sound work. Guided by the creative vision of Mitch Greer, a talented multidisciplinary artist and writer, our approach seamlessly blends various artistic disciplines. We pride ourselves on transcending traditional boundaries, crafting unique experiences that span a broad range of media channels. Our portfolio boasts award-winning films, acclaimed festival presentations, compelling soundtrack compositions, bestselling novels, and immersive installations. Adapting flexibly to the demands of each project, we utilize an extensive network of resources across all media disciplines and equipment to bring visionary ideas to life.

Analog it

With a firm footing into all areas of fine art technique, our small project studio creates everything from Egg Tempera paintings to hand sculpted experimental stop motion that has been a hallmark of our traditional process for over a decade, honed at study of materials at SAIC.

About the Artistic Director

Mitch Greer is an intermedia technologist, artist, designer, and filmmaker based in Emeryville, CA. He creatively merges his skills in coding, architectural design, and musical instrument building, embracing the realms of science fiction, fairy tales, and mythology. WIth both a fine art background and constant research into popular media and design, they bridge the worlds of pop art and historical fine art in a way that embraces both as a cohesive whole.

While engaged in academic studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, The San Francisco Art Institute, and California College of the Arts, and taking time off in between to work in technology and media production, they. engaged in the design and production of multimedia and sound installations both independently and in collaboration with Rachel Smith. Together, they performed and exhibited under their collaborative project, International Corporation, especially as The Lickets at various renowned events such as the Olympia Experimental Music Festival in 2009, Issue Project Room in New York in 2010, Garden of Memory at the Chapel of the Chimes in 2016, and KZSU Stanford's Day of Noise from 2011 to 2017. Mitch's work has garnered international recognition since 2013, with exhibitions held across different countries.

In addition to his artistic pursuits, Mitch expresses his creativity through indie comic art. Since 2014, he has been crafting experimental comic zines that find their way into the hands of readers in Berkeley, Oakland, and San Francisco. These unique publications serve as a platform for his exploration of unconventional storytelling and visual narratives.

In all his endeavors, technology plays a central role for Mitch, serving as a catalyst for innovation and pushing the boundaries of creative expression. As an innovative coder, he leverages technology to bring his artistic visions to life, crafting interactive installations and immersive experiences. In his architectural designs, technology acts as a driving force, enabling him to construct visionary spaces that transcend traditional notions of form and function. Furthermore, Mitch's passion for musical instrument building allows him to combine his technical prowess with artistic sensibilities, resulting in unique and experimental sonic creations.

Through his interdisciplinary approach, Mitch strives to bridge diverse disciplines, seamlessly merging art, technology, and design. This fusion allows him to unravel the possibilities that emerge when these realms intertwine, offering audiences an immersive and thought-provoking exploration of the contemporary world.
