Four Eyes

  • An Abstraction of Love

Four Eyes is a story about a couple living in a small college town who are just like everyone else, except one is a cyclops and one has an awakened third eye. A queer love story, it’s a timeless exploration of identity and understanding. I tried to capture the unselfish love that is my reality with my partner. It’s a love story, and something more.

  • From Zine to Comic

We originally made Four Eyes as a series of zines released between 2016 and 2017. They were written and distributed all across the East Bay, in a deep connection with independent book stores who supported zines, and eventually became a webcomic. They’ve now found a home on Amazon

  • Contemporary Art

While each panel was made to illustrate the story, each panel is an individual painting work that exists on it’s own, and in that it is my favorite painting project, free of anything representational or kind of portraiture. It’s my absolute favorite work right now, even though it’s getting very little support.

Tam in The Forest

Tam, named after the Celtic Tam Lin, a fairy story, saves Polly, named after Polyphemus in Greek Mythology, at another point in the story, in a cityscape they discover the entrance to another world, not unlike my own life, the journey toward climate activism.

The Island

Polly and Tam travel to the Cyclops Island to meet her parents, who Tam really wants to make good impression on. Since there is racism against humans on Cyclops Island, they disguise Tam to appear as a cyclops, mirroring a tale of Oddyseus, where the hero tells a Cyclops they are no one. In this way, humility allows Tam to tap into their hidden power, which I will not give away.
